Setting Dial-up for Microsoft NT 4.0

Open My Computer, Double click on "Install dial up networking", or dial up networking if it is already installed.
  • Open New phonebook entry wizard.
  • Type in Internet as the name of the new phone book entry.
  • Click Next.

  • Check the all of the boxes
  • I am calling the Internet
  • Send my plain text password...
  • The non-Windows NT server...
  • Click Next

  • Type in the phone number that is closest to your location.
  • You can click on the alternatives button to specify additional numbers.
  • Do not check use telephony dialing properties, unless your modem supports this.
  • Click Next.

  • Select Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP)
  • Click Next.

  • No terminal window or script is required.
  • Select None
  • Click Next.

  • For IP address, make sure it is
  • 0.0.0.0
  • Since one will be assigned automatically when you connect.
  • Click Next.

  • For DNS Server enter
  • 206.148.64.11
  • WINS server should be all zeros.
  • 0.0.0.0
  • Click Next.

  • Click Finish to save the new Phonebook entry.
  • Dial-Up Networking should open up with the Internet connection.

  • Click on the Dial button
  • In the Connect to Internet Window
  • Enter your username, remember uppercase and lowercase are important!
  • Click into the Password box, and enter your password that was assigned.
  • Leave the Domain box empty
  • Check the Save password box, unless you prefer to enter it each time you connect.
  • Click OK

If everything is configured correctly you should see the following sequence of messages.
