Can I host my domain with VisionFriendly.com and have it registered elsewhere?

Yes, you can purchase web hosting with VisionFriendly.com even if your domain is registered at another registrar. Once you have purchased hosting you will need to have your current registrar set your primary and secondary name servers to point to VisionFriendly.com's DNS servers.


What is Forwarding?

When you register a domain name, whether it is through VisionFriendly.com or another registrar, you control where your domain is "hosted" or "parked" by the name server configurations for your domain name. The term "parked" refers to where or who is providing name server services for your domain name. If you use the Forwarding (URL redirection) services from VisionFriendly.com, your domain must be "parked" with us.


If I purchase the Basic Package for a year and decide later that I want (or need) to upgrade, can I do so? Is it easy?

Yes. If you purchase any of our hosting packages, you can certainly upgrade to the next package whenever necessary, or if you aren't using all the features of the package you purchased, you can downgrade your account as well. If you want to upgrade, we will charge you only the difference of what is left of that year's service on the higher level account. If you want to downgrade, the difference between for what is left of that year's service will be applied to your VisionFriendly.com account as credits.


What are name servers?

Name servers tell computers the name-to-IP address associated to the domain names. They enable us to refer to websites and email addresses by human-readable names instead of hard to remember numbers.


I'm trying to setup my Email program to check mail with my new hosting account, but I don't know what my settings should be?

To setup your favorite email program to check mail, use the following settings: POP3 Server: mail.[yourdomain] Username and password. Or call customer support at 630-553-0000 and we'll be happy to walk you through the process.
