We’ve created a short list of 3 ways to update your products in Woo Commerce. We hope you find it informative, but even if you already know it, it does not hurt to have a brush-up!
You are most likely familiar with the standard way to edit a product, where you can change the descriptions, add or update images, change price, or setup sales. But there are a few built-in tools that you may not know about.
Quick Editing
- This is a nice tool that allows you to update single products from the main product table in the WordPress admin (the one you see when you click on ‘Products’).
- When you hover over a product name, some options show up, select ‘Quick Edit’ option.
- A new selection will open with options for that particular product right on the page!
- Here you can update a bunch of the product’s info like
- Title
- Slug
- Published date
- Price
- Status, and much more
- once you have completed your updates, simply click ‘Update’ at the bottom of the Quick Edit box, and you can continue with your day!

This option is convenient and great when you need to make a quick change to specific details of a single product
Bulk editing
- As the name suggests, this tool allows for the bulk updating of products. The first thing I will say about it is, BE CAREFUL when using this tool, it is powerful, and you could start a sale you do not intend!
- To start, simply view all of your products and check the box of the products you want to update
- Scroll up, or down (depending on where you are in your product list) and locate the drop-down that says ‘Bulk actions’.
- Simply select ‘Edit’ and hit ‘Apply’. This will allow you to quick edit the products you selected
- Ensure you select ‘Edit’ because if you click ‘Move to Trash’, your selected products will be trashed
- This tool enables you to update multiple products at once, updating price, sales, attributes like weight, status, and much more.
- While convenient, keep in mind that you are editing multiple products at once, so once you hit that update button, it will update ALL the selected products
Depending on the size of your store, viewing all the products may be good enough to use these methods of editing. But if your store is larger and you have lots of products, you can take advantage of the filtering options that are also built in.
Filtering Products
Along the top of the screen, you will see a number of dropdowns at the top. You will see ‘Select a Category’ and ‘Filter by product type’, among other options. Some plugins like YOAST will add more filtering options.
These filters will allow you to reduce the number of products displayed, so you can have an easier time updating what you need.
If your store is setup using categories, you can use the Category filter to easily see the products in a certain category. For example, let’s say you have online store selling clothes, and you’d like to put your scarves on sale. Just filter by the ‘Scarf’ Category and only see the products associated with that category. Now you can easily apply the discount to your products.
